Kimberley Day Wins Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year
The Dorset Artists’ Guild is immensely proud of our Fellowship member Kimberley Day, who has won Series 11 of Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year.
After six heats, a semi-final and a dramatic final, Kim was selected as the overall winner by judges Tai Shan Schierenberg, Kathleen Soriano and Eva Langret. Her prize was a £10,000 commission to paint Croagh Patrick in County Mayo, Ireland, for the National Gallery of Ireland.
Throughout the competition, artists were challenged to capture landscapes in just four hours. Kim’s distinctive approach — balancing representation and abstraction with a vibrant use of colour — impressed the judges across the series.
For her semi-final commission, Kim painted a striking view of Corfe Castle, close to her home in Dorset, capturing the ruins through shadowed trees with luminous colour and energy.
For the final commission in Ireland, Kim created a powerful interpretation of Croagh Patrick, inspired by conversations with the local community and the long tradition of pilgrimage associated with the mountain.
The Dorset Artists’ Guild warmly congratulates Kim on this remarkable achievement and looks forward to following the next chapter of her artistic journey.
