Dorset Artists Guild
Collection: Kimberley Day
With a refined palette, Kimberley captures the true drama and essence of living on that infinite boundary between land and sea.
Kimberley Day lives on the Isle of Purbeck on the south coast of England, Dorset. Her abstracted landscapes are a response to her local environment which she regularly walks, cycles and swims through. These ever-changing emotional landscapes are described through her application of paint and charcoal in an attempt to capture both the literal place but also the feeling and energy of the trees, the sky and earth — the vibration and magic that is held in the light, the soundlessness when lost in the forest or crossing empty but well trodden paths. Endeavouring to use a palette that expresses the tonal harmony of our natural environment and enable her to share this meditative process with you — here living on that infinite boundary between land and sea.
Materials: Kimberley works on Saunders Waterford 638gsm papers (and occasionally gesso boards) with Acrylics, compressed charcoals and pastels pencils combining each medium to add variation to her mark making and colour quality.
