Dorset Artists Guild
Collection: Sarah Dixon
Sarah Gabrielle is a Dorset based artist working in oil, acrylic, collage, textile and mixed media and enjoys experimenting with styles, techniques and colour to find way of moving towards finding her ‘voice ‘ in her art works. Having lived in Dorset for over 30 years, Sarah finds inspiration in the natural world around her and especially from the fabulous Jurassic coastline and landscape in Dorset.
With a background and lifelong interest in the Arts, Sarah Gabrielle originally trained as a teacher in art and textiles at Bretton Hall Teaching Training College, part of Leeds University and went on to follow a varied career both in the Uk and abroad, notably Finland and Portugal. She has travelled widely in Europe and also in Central Asia, India, Nepal, Jordan, Cuba and South America.
Influenced by changing styles in art, especially in ethnic regional and folk styles, and with a strong interest and knowledge of the development of modern artists in the 20th Century , Sarah Gabrielle has borrowed ideas in colour and mark making to produce her current pictures. Moving towards an abstracted feel, her pictures are designed to invoke thought and consideration.
